A note from the producing artistic director

Michael McKelvey headshotAbout 30 years ago, I took a summer theatre gig in Farmington and was introduced to the Four Corners region. From that summer, the most enduring memories were of Durango-it's beauty, the warmth of the residents, and the artistic energy of the town. To me, Durango is the gem of this region. Since moving here in August, I have asked countless people why there was no summer theatre festival. Without pause, each person said: "I don't know, but there definitely should be one." Thanks to the support of Fort Lewis College, the Community Concert Hall, and other arts organization in the region, Durango Theatreworks is HERE! The missions of Theatreworks is to present professional-quality theatre to the Durango area, bring back outdoor Shakespeare, and offer a wide variety of titles for audience of all ages.

Thank you for joining us as we embark on this journey!

- Michael E. McKelvey
